JGSullivan Interactive Chooses
Pageflex Mpower to Reduce York UPG's Marketing Collateral Costs
CAMBRIDGE,
MA March 11 2002 Pageflex (NASDAQ:
BITS) and JGSullivan Interactive (JGSI), a leading marketing and
software development firm offering Internet and customized document
services to Fortune 1000 companies, today announce that JGSI selected
Pageflex Mpower to produce customized collateral for York UPG (NYSE:
YRK). In 2001 York joined JGSI's Build-A-BrochureT program
powered by Mpower and immediately began seeing their dealers and
distributors get results. The program has enabled York to reduce
annual collateral costs in their dealer program while increasing
their dealer-based marketing effectiveness.
York UPG is one of the largest suppliers of heating, ventilating
and air conditioning products in the U.S. and abroad. York turned
to JGSI to improve their dealer channel support. York had a number
of goals:
- supply dealers with detailed information about
the York family of products
- develop a cost-effective solution that would
serve multiple York brands
- enable dealers to personalize literature
- ensure their brand messages were consistently
communicated, literature was professional, and product information
was always current and accurate
- help end customers with purchase decisionsand
- reduce their need to print large quantities
of "cookie cutter" literature.
The Build-A-Brochure Solution
The JGSI Build-A-Brochure program gives customers an Internet-based
client interface for building custom documents online using content
databases. The resulting documents may be electronically distributed,
printed to their desktop printer, or professionally printed at high-resolution.
Through the Build-A-Brochure program, York now provides over 4,000
preferred independent contractors and dealers participating in their
Liberties program with the same style of benefits as their Fortune
500 distributors. The Build-A-Brochure system, available 24/7 at
York's business-to-business YorkNet Web site, has features that
make up a complete customized marketing tool for dealers.
Utilizing Pageflex's Mpower technology, JGSI developed an automated
web-based system that enables York dealers to tailor each customer
brochure with products from select York brands, as well as:
- suggested personalized messages, which the
dealer can customize or completely change to match their own marketing
message
- dealer information, including address, telephone,
URL, and up to 3 contact names
- dealer logos
- photo library provided by York brand managers
or the dealer's own uploaded photography; and
- a full page to customize for product promotions,
special offers, or trade shows.
Cost-Saving Results
Customized marketing materials provide a stronger message to the
consumer with less cost in their delivery.
"Build-A-Brochure will ensure the York UPG brand message is consistently
communicated and its product information is always current and accurate,
while enabling the dealer to customize the message to suit his needs...It's
the best of both worlds." said Matt Peterson, York UPG Vice-President
of Sales and Marketing.
The Build-A-Brochure program has enabled York to reduce their need
for the mass production of large print catalogs, pre-printed sell
sheets, and flyers that dealers traditionally hand out to customers.
Dealers can now include only the relevant product material in the
customized brochures they create right in their showroom. York UPG
also saves money by avoiding the spoilage, storage, postage and
handling costs associated with traditional literature.
"Pageflex's Mpower technology enables us to make one brochure template
look like many different designs," said Jen Huebert, JGSI. "This
helps us to provide our clients with one cost-effective solution,
like Build-A-Brochure, that serves their marketing needs for multiple
brands."
Pageflex Mpower
Pageflex Mpower is the premier Web-to-print, custom publishing software.
Mpower is based on Pageflex's NuDoc technology, a robust XML-based
composition engine. Mpower uses flexible design templates incorporating
"spring-loaded" text and image containers that dynamically adjust
the page layout based on the sizes and shapes of the variable text
and images flowed into them.
By using Mpower's flex capabilities, JGSI was able to build brochure
templates that could on-the-fly resize image containers to handle
images of any size that a dealer might upload. JGSI also utilized
the latest release of Mpower to create complex copyfit rules so
that the document formatting adjusts to accommodate whatever length
of custom text a dealer enters online. "Pageflex Mpower enables
us to offer customers a variety of complex ways in which they can
customize their brochures. And we really appreciate the fact that
the product's capabilities continue to evolve as our customer's
needs evolve," said Brett Knobloch, JGSI.
"JGSullivan Interactive is a leader in developing very sophisticated
Web-to-print marketing solutions for Fortune 1000 companies," said
Sang Lee, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Pageflex "We
are excited that JGSI has chosen to use Pageflex's premier Web-to-print
Mpower technology as an essential part of their Build-A-Brochure
service offering, thereby allowing York UPG to build sophisticated
customized marketing materials on demand and reduce collateral costs
overall."
