Documedia Partners with Pageflex
to Build Start-to-Finish One-to-One Marketing Campaigns
Customers can create and produce customized, print-on-demand collateral
to shorten time to market and raise response rates
CAMBRIDGE, MA December 10, 2002
Pageflex (NASDAQ:
BITS), a pioneer and leader of Web-top publishing, the next wave
of technology to follow desktop publishing, announced today its partnership
with Documedia to build a print-on-demand system for localizing and
personalizing client marketing campaigns. UK-based Documedia has integrated
its Internet-based suite of marketing services with the Pageflex Mpower
composition system and HP Indigo presses in its new DocuMarketing
offering. Features of the DocuMarketing approach include
one-click online ordering, simplified campaign set-up and roll-out,
centralization of templates to guarantee brand control, online management
of content and digital assets, and electronic PDF proofing for faster
turnaround. In one recent application, Kodak Lens UK used DocuMarketing
to streamline its marketing campaign process, personalize the collateral,
and maintain corporate image. Its 150 multi-location opticians could
produce customized brochures and mailers while maintaining strong
branding and distribution control. And the HP Indigo digital presses
at various locations throughout the dealer network guaranteed high-quality
print performance at the end of the cycle.
Technology Services Director James Marsland explains the Documedia
vision this way: "We are pleased to be working with Pageflex to
provide leading-edge Web-top publishing systems that offer our clients
total flexibility in creating collateral for their target audiences.
We add value to an Mpower workflow through advanced outsourced electronic
publishing services and e-commerce technical solutions. And partnering
with Pageflex allows us to publish information in a variety of formats,
including Postscript, PDF, HTML, and XML."
Adds Pageflex General Manager David Frenkel, "One-to-one marketing
and start-to-finish print on demand are key elements of our application
strategy for Pageflex products. And Documedia brings to the table
a strong customer base in information technology, real estate, financial
services, law, pharmaceuticals, petrochemicals, and marketing, along
with a full portfolio of case studies that includes such clients
as British Airways, Cartier, Good Year, Honda, Nomura, and Shell."

Pageflex
Pageflex ( www.pageflexinc.com) is the pioneer of a new direction
in composition software: Web-top publishing. Moving beyond desktop
publishing, our Web-top publishing software helps novice users create
high-quality printed products using intelligent, flexible templates,
without installing or learning any new software. Pageflex templates
are intelligent and flexible because professional designers can
set rules to define which elements can change, how much they can
change, and who can change them. Our products maintain corporate
identity and design integrity while enabling sophisticated customization
of documents. Pageflex also leads the field in variable-data composition
software for both enterprise and desktop.
Pageflex software is used for a wide variety of applications, including
on-demand marketing materials, stationery and business cards, advertising,
catalogs, and personalized digital printing. Pageflex products are
distributed through original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), value-added
resellers (VARs), applications service providers (ASPs), and system
integrators (SIs). The Pageflex worldwide customer base includes
manufacturers, service providers, advertising agencies, commercial
printers, graphic design houses and ASPs. Users of Pageflex products
include Xerox, IBM, Ford,EFI, Coldwell Banker, Wunderman, Mail-Well,
httprint, and Spire.
The Company was established in 1999 as a wholly-owned subsidiary
of Bitstream Inc. ( NASDAQ:
BITS, www.bitstream.com).
What makes Pageflex software different from all other
composition systems?
Desktop publishing requires users to install expensive software
and master superior design techniques. With Web-top publishing,
even beginners can turn out high-quality printed products, without
installing or learning any new software, by using Pageflex intelligent
and flexible templates.
