Bitstream Releases Version 1.07 of ThunderHawk
New release includes features that make the Pocket PC Edition easy to install and provide the Enterprise Edition with greater scalability
CAMBRIDGE, MA — May 06, 2003 — Bitstream Inc. (NASDAQ: BITS) announced today the release of version 1.07 of ThunderHawk , Bitstream's wireless Web browsing technology, which brings the desktop browsing experience to wireless devices.

Version 1.07 includes upgrades to the Pocket PC Edition, a full-featured wireless Web browser for Pocket PCs, giving end users complete access to real Web pages. Version 1.07 also includes upgrades to the Enterprise Edition , a client/server solution for wireless Web browsing across networks. ThunderHawk's Enterprise Edition gives corporations and organizations complete access to Internet and corporate Intranet Web pages.

"Over 10,000 customers have registered ThunderHawk since its release last May. Since that time, we have worked toward aggressive deadlines to improve our wireless Web browser and give our customers the features they want," states Anna Chagnon, President of Bitstream. New Pocket PC Edition features include:

  • Improved and simplified installation
  • Ability to download any file through the Web browser

New Enterprise Edition features include:

  • Overall improvements to the ThunderHawk server architecture
  • Improved and simplified installation, including a new Windows installer for the ThunderHawk server
  • New GUI (graphical user interface) for the ThunderHawk server
  • New Linux installer
  • New GUI for the Linux load balancer
  • Ability to scale the ThunderHawk server up to 64 concurrent users, doubling the capacity of previous versions

Availability and System Requirements
ThunderHawk for the Pocket PC is available for a free 30-day trial and for purchase by subscription. Customers who have a Pocket PC can download, test-drive, and purchase ThunderHawk from the Bitstream Web site. To take full advantage of new features, existing customers can also upgrade versions on the site, located at http://www.bitstream.com/wireless .

Current system requirements for ThunderHawk are as follows:

  • A Pocket PC running Windows CE 3.0, Pocket PC 2000, or Pocket PC 2002 OS, such as:

    • 02 XDA devices, including the Pocket PC Phone Edition from VoiceStream/T-Mobile
  • USB (cradle), serial (COM port), or IR (infrared) connection
  • CompactFlash Type 1 or Type 1 extended modem or network interface card (NIC)
  • An Internet service provider (ISP) account or network connection with Internet access

ThunderHawk
ThunderHawk brings the desktop Web browsing experience to mobile device users.
