Bitstream Licenses Font Fusion
and Fonts to EA
Well-known game company joins list of interactive
application developers licensing Bitstream's premier font rendering
engine and high-quality fonts

14, 2003 Bitstream Inc. (NASDAQ:
BITS) and Electronic Arts ( NASDAQ: ERTS ), the world's leading
developer and publisher of video games, announced today that EA has
signed an agreement with Bitstream. EA is licensing Font Fusion ,
Bitstream's premier font rendering engine, and a set of Bitstream's
high-quality fonts for EA's widely acclaimed gaming software. Recently
released products, including NCAA March Madness 2003 and the PC version
of MVP Baseball 2003, used Bitstream fonts. "As
the market for interactive gaming continues to grow, font scaling
and high- quality fonts become must-have features," said Anna Chagnon,

Font Fusion provides developers with full
font fidelity and high-quality typographic output at any resolution
on any device, while maintaining the integrity of the original character
shapes. Font Fusion is both small and fast. Most developers can
compile the source code in 32-105 KB, depending on options. It generates
more than 16,000 characters per second, using the Arial font at
25 lines per em on a 233MHz Pentium II processor, cache turned off.
Font Fusion is designed for operating systems,
