Pageflex and NexPress Solutions Bring Variable Data Publishing Software to Digital Print Providers
CAMBRIDGE, MASS — December 13, 2004 — Pageflex ( NASDAQ:
BITS , www.pageflex.com),
a leading provider of Web-to-print technology, and NexPress Solutions,
Inc., a Kodak company, today announced an agreement in which PAGEFLEX
variable data publishing technology will be available to NexPress
customers and prospects.
“We are extremely pleased to announce this agreement,”
said Anna Chagnon, Pageflex CEO. “We are already working with
NexPress at several customer sites and I am confident that the combination
of PAGEFLEX software, our VDX driver, and output from the KODAK
NEXPRESS 2100 press will create a powerful, high-quality Web-to-print
workflow.”
PAGEFLEX solutions drive sophisticated variable data designs in
which elements on a page can flex and reposition based on designer-specified
criteria to accommodate varying amounts of personalized content.
For example, when the length or size of custom content is different
than the size of the box the content is flowing into, the box can
expand in either the horizontal or vertical direction (or both),
to accommodate the content. Designer-specified rules determine the
maximum and minimum dimensions, as well as behavior of the surrounding
elements on the page. The result is the ability to define sophisticated
templates that accommodate a wide range of variable content by flexing
the page layout.
The solutions, including PAGEFLEX
Mpower for sophisticated variable data publishing, and PAGEFLEX
.EDIT for interactive, online document customization, will be
available for Web-based demonstrations to NexPress customers and
prospects. Additionally, the two companies plan to collaborate on
marketing and sales initiatives. The PAGEFLEX VDX driver that is
based on the ANSI PPML/VDX standard has been tested by NexPress
Solutions and has achieved the NexPress Qualified Solution designation.
“We are pleased to be working with Pageflex. NexPress’
strategy is to align itself with a select group of solution partners
that bring significant, demonstrable value to the NexPress solutions
portfolio,” said Chris Bondy, vice president, professional
services and solutions, NexPress Solutions. “Pageflex delivers
significant value with a powerful platform that allows customers
to design highly personalized printed materials that accommodate
a high degree of flexibility and variability.”
Several of our mutual customers have been using Pageflex technology
with a VDX workflow in conjunction with their KODAK NEXPRESS 2100
digital color production presses since the release of the PAGEFLEX
VDX driver earlier this year. With the magnitude of high-volume
variable data printing in these businesses, these customers have
realized tremendous time savings with the combination of PAGEFLEX
software and the NEXPRESS 2100 press in a VDX workflow.
