Pageflex Storefront to Support JDF Integration with HP Indigo Digital Color Presses
Chicago, IL — September 12, 2005 — Pageflex (NASDAQ:
BITS, www.pageflex.com)
today announced that it will provide JDF integration between Pageflex
Storefront™, an award-winning Web-to-print application, and
HP Indigo digital color presses. The two companies also are collaborating
on marketing, customer education, and sales-related activities.
The companies currently are showcasing JDF integration of Pageflex
Storefront, HP Production Flow, and HP Production Manager at Print
05 in Chicago's McCormick Place through September 15. The JDF demonstration
enables attendees to use Pageflex Storefront to customize and order
a document in the Pageflex booth (#6951), which will then be sent
as a PPML datastream for printing on an HP Indigo press in the HP
booth (#12005), where the attendee can pick up the personalized
document. Held every four years, Print 05 is the largest US-based
International trade show for the graphic arts industry.
Pageflex additionally plans to optimize its PPML output to maximize
its speed and efficiency on HP Indigo presses. PPML, personalized
print markup language, is a widely supported, XML-based industry
standard print language that eliminates variable data bottlenecks
by storing all common job elements for reuse.
"We are delighted to be working with HP to bring integrated
enterprise-level Web-to-print solutions to the marketplace,"
said Anna Chagnon, Pageflex CEO. “Through JDF and PPML integration
of Pageflex Storefront with the HP Indigo press, our customers will
enjoy easy-to-implement, but robust, tools for offering Web-to-print
services, increased output speeds, and more automated digital print
workflows.”
“The integration with Pageflex Storefront enhances HP's end-to-end
workflow, combining the accessibility of the Internet with the image
quality and digital intelligence of HP Indigo presses,” said
Alon Bar-Shany, vice president and general manager, Indigo division,
HP. “HP customers can now enjoy another competitive edge by
offering their customers Web-to-print solutions featuring true offset
quality.”
Among the companies’ customers is Rastar Digital Marketing
in Salt Lake City. Kevin Despain, chief executive officer at Rastar,
is ebullient about this integration. "We have long been a major
user of the Indigo press and were one of the first companies to
adopt Pageflex Storefront. By optimizing the two systems to better
work together, HP and Pageflex are enabling us to increase our throughput
and generate additional business.”
