| Pageflex Storefront 3.0 Named Best In Show at On Demand Conference
Cambridge, MA — May 22, 2006 — Bitstream (NASDAQ: BITS, www.bitstream.com) and its Pageflex division (www.pageflex.com), the leading provider of technologies for cross-media, Web-to-print, and All Things Variable™, are proud to announce that Pageflex Storefront 3.0 received a Best in Show award at last week’s On Demand Conference & Exposition. Pageflex Storefront, which enables companies to define, auto-generate, and manage attractive Web-to-print document customization and e-commerce sites, was recognized in the digital publishing category. This award is the third award presented to Pageflex Storefront in the past year. Previous awards include the prestigious 2005 GATF InterTech Technology Award and the Print 05 Must See ‘em award.
Only one product was given a Best in Show award in each of six categories. In the Digital Publishing category judges evaluated solutions for digital warehousing and delivery, JDF, on demand publishing, catalogs, and transactions before singling out Pageflex Storefront. The On Demand Awards Program was produced by Questex Media Group, Inc. and judged by BERTL, the well-known independent research firm focused on digital imaging.
Print service providers and corporate marketing departments use Pageflex Storefront to provide their clients with a catalog of customizable print document products, and corresponding personalized email and cross-media campaigns. Included in the turnkey software package is user account, shopping cart and order management, as well as personalization and customization technology for online document editing. At the core of the solution, is Pageflex Web-to-print composition technology, including flexible templates that enable document layouts to "flex," accommodating variable content within sophisticated designer-specified guidelines.
Released in January 2006, Pageflex Storefront 3.0 added the ability for end users to upload and order the printing of PDF files and interactive data list acquisition as part of the order placement workflow, including an announced seamless integration with USADATA.
“All of us at Bitstream are gratified to receive the inaugural On Demand Best of Show Award for Digital Publishing. We are pleased that the BERTL judges recognized the business value that Pageflex Storefront offers the ever-expanding number of customers who have adopted the product for their document customization and e-commerce Web sites,” said Anna Chagnon, President and CEO of Bitstream. “Pageflex Storefront is leading the digital publishing industry into a new era with its robust online interactive editing interface; sophisticated variable composition engine; and PDF, approvals, and pricing workflows. The application is proving to be vital to our customers’ business success.”
“It was exciting to see the new developments in imaging processes,” commented Dave Sweetman, Vice President for Research and Content Development at BERTL. “This year’s winners demonstrated the rapid advances the digital printing community is making and are truly deserving of recognition.”
