Wishblade and Bitstream
Announce Agreement to Bring High-Quality Fonts to the Scrapbooking
& Papercrafting Market Wishblade
licenses new, fun, and edgy “Breaking the Norm” font designs
from Bitstream ST. PAUL,
MN and CAMBRIDGE, MA — March 7, 2005 — Wishblade Inc.
and Bitstream Inc. ( NASDAQ:
BITS) announced today that Wishblade
Inc. has licensed 6 font sets for use with the Wishblade™
Personal Media Cutter. Wishblade selected the fonts from Bitstream’s
new typeface library of Breaking
the Norm fonts.
“Titling is an important part of scrapbook pages. Titles
help to tell the scrapbooker’s story and are a key design
element on a scrapbook page. Wishblade makes titling easy by giving
scrapbookers the ability to type in exactly what they want to say,
choose from a number of interesting font styles, size the letters
to fit their project, and cut them from a variety of materials,”
said Jane Kober, CEO of Wishblade Inc. “Bitstream has been
a great partner in helping us develop and customize fonts to use
with Wishblade, giving our customers many design styles to choose
from while also working well with Wishblade’s technology.”
“The arts and crafts market needs versatile, easy-to-use
products like Wishblade, which lets imaginative scrapbookers and
papercrafters tap their creativity with just the click of a mouse,”
said Anna Chagnon, President and Chief Executive Officer of Bitstream.
“Bitstream fonts are well known throughout the world for their
typographic quality. We are happy to be working with Wishblade to
bring a variety of high-quality fonts to their innovative solution
for scrapbooking and papercrafting customers.”
Wishblade is a compact, portable cutter of paper and other media
that connects to a personal computer running Windows 98SE/ME/2000/XP.
From the Wishblade Design Library, scrapbookers and papercrafters
can build a personal collection of fonts and shapes to match their
creative style. All font and shape sets are stored on compact flash
cards, making them easy to organize and store.
Bitstream’s BTN Font Packs are exclusive, fun, and edgy designs
from its Breaking the Norm typeface library. The fonts work well
in software applications (particularly graphics and presentation
applications), web applications, and printers — anywhere that
customers use templates to create posters, greeting cards, scrapbooks,
CD labels, T-shirts, coffee mugs, digital videos and photos, etc.
About
Granite Peak and Wishblade
Granite Peak was founded by Jen Aamodt and Jane Kober as a consulting
firm specializing in helping companies increase their return on
investment in New Product Development activities. Jen is as avid
scrapbooker. One day, hanging around the proverbial water cooler,
Jen and Jane came up with the idea of developing a cutting tool
that connected to a computer, so you could just type in what you
wanted to cut for a scrapbook, and the tool would do the work for
you. This idea has now become Wishblade™ Personal Media Cutter.
By leveraging existing technology in the vinyl sign-cutting industry,
it took about 20 months to go from Idea to Product Launch. To learn
