Unified Stroke-Based
Font
Many developers deploying the same product in Asia are looking at
a unified font: one font that has all the characters in the Chinese,
Japanese, and Korean languages. The Bitstream unified, stroke-based
font is less than 1.3 MB and uses standard Unicode encoding. It includes
over 37,000 Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, Japanese (Kanji),
and Korean characters.
Developers can tailor the unified, stroke-based font for Chinese,
Japanese, or Korean applications and environments. In a standard
Unicode CJK font, there are frequently Chinese, Japanese, and Korean
characters in the same Unicode position, and these characters may
have subtle or pronounced design differences. For these situations,
Bitstream created a unified, stroke-based font that chooses which
language to use for characters at each Unicode position.
A unified font thus allows developers to customize their solutions
without making compromises, so they can use one font for all their
products.
