Rendering for Symbian OS
Bitstream has developed a Font Fusion plug-in for Symbian OS. A fast text renderer that fits in a small footprint, the Font Fusion plug-in delivers the same performance as the Font Fusion SDK but in one DLL that plugs right into Symbian OS.
Font Fusion Plug-In for Symbian
The Font Fusion plug-in for Symbian OS is a dynamic link library.
The Font Fusion plug-in includes built-in support for lossless
font compression, allowing the font engine to read and render
industry-standard fonts, bitmap fonts, and outline fonts in compressed
format. Bitstream can achieve over 2-to-1 compression from the
original to compressed size of a font. Developers can choose the
font compression level for optimal trade-offs between RAM/ROM
savings and performance.
Font Fusion is also available as an SDK, which is both small
and fast. Developers can compile the source code in 36 KB on up,
depending on options. It generates more than 37,000 characters
per second on a 450MHz Pentium II processor, rendering a TrueType
font at 25 lines per em.
Bitstream Panorama for Symbian
Bitstream Panorama is an easy-to-integrate product for consumer
electronics devices. A small, portable, global text composition
engine, Bitstream Panorama enables developers to draw strings
of characters and lay out complex lines of text. The product supports
all international languages, including Arabic and Indian scripts.
The product features high-level APIs to lay out, position, substitute,
and render characters in all international languages.
International Fonts for Developers
Developers can license a number of different font suites, including
delta-hinted screen fonts, compact stroke-based Asian fonts, the
Tiresias Screenfont, the CCTV Font Set, and the TV Font Pack.
Our world-renowned library includes an extensive collection of
high-quality international fonts, such as Asian, Arabic, Cyrillic,
Greek, Hebrew, Indian, Thai, WGL4, and Latin fonts.
MobileFont Set
Bitstream has developed a MobileFont set, designed and hinted
specifically for display on mobile handsets.
Compact Stroke-Based Asian Fonts
Bitstream’s Chinese, Japanese, and Korean stroke-based fonts
are extremely compact, high-quality fonts for consumer electronics
devices. Developers do not have to dedicate a large amount of
ROM space to store a stroke-based font, nor do they have to use
a lot of memory to display it. Bitstream has also developed a
unified, stroke-based font that includes over 37,000 Asian characters.
Developers can tailor the unified, stroke-based font for Chinese,
Japanese, or Korean applications and environments, so they can
use one font for all their Asian-based products.
Custom Font Design
Bitstream’s Custom Design Department has over two decades
of experience in typeface design. Our custom design offerings
include logo and symbol fonts, corporate font design, delta-hinted
