Complex Scripts
Most languages are straightforward and can be composed and rendered without having to consider writing direction (left-right, right-left), language rules, character substitution and positioning, character shaping, etc.

Some worldwide languages require special functionality to interpret language rules and shape characters before they can be rendered. For example, Arabic, Hebrew, Indic, and Thai are complex scripts. They each have different language rules, which makes composing and rendering characters for these languages even more complex.
