Problem
What do I do with the file I downloaded?
Solution
Bitstream font files are delivered in a compressed
file format for easier downloading. Once you have downloaded the
font files, you need to unpack them and then install them. Please
see the appropriate unpacking instructions below.
Unpacking Windows Fonts
Most files sent to you are self-extracting
ZIP files and have .EXE in the file extension. You can unpack these
EXE files by double-clicking the file name.
If the files you downloaded have a .ZIP extension, then you need
"Zip" software such as TurboZip
or WinZip
in order to unpack them. When you have ZIP extraction software installed,
you should be able to start the extraction by double-clicking on
the .ZIP file.
After you have unpacked the file(s) you downloaded, follow
the directions to install the fonts onto your system.
Unpacking Macintosh Fonts
Files for the Macintosh are compressed in a format called "binhex".
Usually, your Netscape or Microsoft Internet Explorer browsers should
unpack these files after downloading them. By default, these files
appear on the Desktop. However, if you have problems unpacking them,
you can download
StuffIt Expander for the Macintosh from Aladdin Systems for
free.
Once you have installed the software, you can extract the files
by double clicking the icon for the HQX or SIT file. After you have
unpacked the files, follow the directions
to install the fonts onto your system.
