Making Font Group Associations
Problem
If I associate a font group with an application or a document, how
do I get the associated application or document to open and use
the fonts in the font group?
Solution
To open an application or document associated with a font group,
you must create a shortcut for the font group. When you run the
shortcut for the font group, the associated document or application
opens.
To make a shortcut:
- Click the font group that is associated with your document or
application.
- Choose View > Properties.
- On the General tab, in the Association box, you
can choose a document or application to associate with the font
group. Click the Browse button to select an association.
- Click the Shortcut tab.
- Select the Create a shortcut for this group check box.
- In the Shortcut Location section, choose a location to
save the shortcut.
- Program Group.
Select this option to add the shortcut to an existing program
group on the Start menu. Click the Browse
button to select the program group.
- Add to th Desktop. Select
this option to save the shortcut to the Desktop.
- Add to the Start Menu. Select
this option to add the shortcut to the top of the Start menu.
- Choose whether to display a confirmation dialog. The confirmation
dialog asks whether you want to add the fonts in the group to
the installed fonts, or whether you want to replace the installed
fonts with the fonts in the group. If you decide not to have a
confirmation dialog, choose the action you want for the font group.
- When you are finished setting shortcut options, click OK.
To open the associated application or document:
- Double-click, open, or run the shortcut you
just created from the location where you saved it.
