Messages about Unavailable Fonts
Problem
When I select font in Font Navigator, I get a message to insert
the disk, or Font Navigator tells me the file is not available.
Solution
There are two possible reasons for this behavior.
- You used the Font Navigator Find Fonts
command to search a drive or disk that is no longer attached to
your machine. For example, you searched a CD-ROM for fonts and
then removed the CD from the drive.
- Your Font Catalog is corrupt.
For each of the above reasons, the solution is the same.
- Use Windows Explorer to find where most of your font files are
stored.
- TrueType fonts have a TT icon or the
file extension .TTF
- PostScript fonts have an A icon or the
file extensions .PFB and .PFM
NOTE: If you used Font Navigator find
fonts in a CD or other removable media, copy the font files to a
permanent storage location on a hard disk or a network drive.
- Once you know where most of your font files are stored,
delete the Font Catalog and re-build
it. When you use the Find Fonts Wizard to re-build the Font
Catalog, search all the drives and folders where your fonts are
stored.
