Why Do My Bitstream OpenType Fonts Get a TrueType
Icon When I Install Them into Mac OS X?
Problem
Bitstream OpenType fonts display with TrueType icons when installed
into Mac OS X.
Solution
Bitstream builds the TrueType "flavor" of OpenType fonts (as opposed to the PostScript "flavor"). Some Macintosh operating systems label this kind of OpenType font as TrueType. This incorrect label does not affect the OpenType features of the fonts. These features are available to any application that supports OpenType features. You can get the operating system to apply an OpenType icon by changing the file extension from .ttf to .otf. This change does not affect the functionality of the font.
