Missing Characters Problem
Some characters appear as white boxes with a black outline.
Solution
Characters missing
from the PFR
The characters that appear as white boxes are missing from the
portable font resource (PFR) you created with WebFont Wizard. You
can check the sample HTML page created with the PFR to see what
characters were recorded.
You must recreate the PFR to fix the problem. With WebFont Wizard,
you can select the characters you want to record, from a single
character to the complete character set. When you record the new
PFR, make sure you have selected all the characters you need.
Also remember that some fonts contain only uppercase or lowercase
letters, not a complete character set. If the font does not include
lower case letters, for example, then if you type lower case letters
in your Web page, the letters appear as white boxes.
Refreshing the page
Refresh the page by holding down the SHIFT key and clicking the
Reload (Netscape) or Refresh (Internet Explorer) button. This forces
the browser to reload the entire page without using cached information.
Adding Multi-Language Support
If you are using a Pan European font (WGL4 font) , make sure you
have added the UTF-8 character set in the <HEAD>
tags of your page.
Multiple PFRs for the same
font
If you use the same font in two or more PFRs, and you recorded
different characters in each PFR, you may see empty character boxes
on your page. To solve this problem:
- Re-record the PFR with all the characters
you need in a single PFR file. Change all the <LINK>
tags to this new PFR.
- Change the point size of the font.
