Bitstream Announces First Mass-Market Offering of the ThunderHawk Mobile Browser at CTIA 2008

Third generation of groundbreaking browsing technology features improved user experience, fastest load times of any mobile browser

Las Vegas, NV — April 1, 2008 — Bitstream Inc. (NASDAQ: BITS) today announced the release of the third generation of ThunderHawk, which provides a truly full-featured, desktop-level browsing experience on mobile devices. ThunderHawk now runs on any device through a combination of Java and C++ editions. The company is demonstrating its mobile browsing technology at CTIA Wireless 2008 today through Thursday, at Bitstream booth #4519.

“Suited for both carriers and device manufacturers, the latest version of ThunderHawk is ideally situated to meet the challenges of today’s mobile market,” said Anna Chagnon, President and CEO of Bitstream, Inc. “We designed this version with both technological and economic efficiency in mind – it is highly scalable, making it feasible to deploy in large volumes at a very reasonable cost.”

ThunderHawk provides a superior desktop-like user experience by handling HTML Websites and real-world browsing activities with speed and ease. Built with Bitstream core mobile technology, ThunderHawk offers the superior ability to fit Website information on both high-end and mass-market handsets. The browser's client/server technology and highly scalable architecture allows mobile operators to offer a fully branded browsing solution to millions of users worldwide.

New features include:

Adaptive Scale for the desktop mini-map (in split screen zoom-out view), largely eliminating the need for left-to-right scrolling

More Efficient Transport Format for an additional 10% reduction in OTA data – the smallest data size of any mobile browser – significantly increasing speed

Two New Magnification Sizes: XL and 2XL

Validation of Certificates for https sites; if there are certificate problems the user is informed and given the option of whether to proceed

Rendering improvements coinciding with server side upgrades
